TOUR 1

TOUR 1

Our trip starts with one of the most unique places, rarely visited by tourists, called The Amazing Cave. There is an inspiring story behind the site, according to which a man dug a potato pit for his wife for 23 years until his last breath. Nowadays this extraordinary cave is one of the most beautiful sights in Armenia.

The next stop is Charents Arch, located not far from the village of Vokhchabert. Architect Rafael Israelyan dedicated the monument to the famous Armenian poet Yeghishe Charents, who admired the beauty of Mount Ararat and used to spend most of his time there. The site provides the best view of Mount Ararat.

One of the most visited places -Garni Temple is our next stop. The temple is the only standing pagan temple in Armenia and is considered to be Armenia's symbol of pre-Christian Armenia. After astonishing Garni comes Geghard monastery. Geghard is a UNESCO-listed monastery complex. Here we will witness the "lavash" (Armenian thin bread) baking process, which is one of the most beautiful and common Armenian national traditions. This will be followed by a traditional Armenian lunch.

On our way, we will also visit the incredible Azat Canyon, which is also called Garni gorge. It lies across the length of the Azat River and its confluent Goght. The canyon is known for the wonderful natural rocks, formed of regular hexagonal cylinders. These rocks start from the beginning up to the highest point of the canyon. The composition is called “Symphony of Stones”or “Basalt Organ”. “Symphony of Stones” is registered in the list of natural monuments and, consequently, is protected by law.

Driving along the Yerevan-Garni highway, you can see the Charents Arch on the right side of the road on a hill. The monument is named after the great Armenian poet and great patriot Yeghishe Charents. It is believed that he often visited this place and loved to enjoy the fantastic scenery opening from here. Simple at first glance, the stone arch is actually a very interesting monument. The fact is that from here a stunning view of the great biblical mountain Ararat opens all day long. Therefore, the second name of the monument is the Arch of Ararat. This place is a favorite and popular attraction. Tourists visiting Armenia come here to enjoy the breathtaking views and take photos.
